History
When Kyle awoke from his coma, he was different. He was very confused and detached. He eventually came to realize that he was not Kyle Baldwin. He was, instead, a being from the future inhabiting Kyle's body. He demanded that Tom take him back to Highland Beach, where the abduction took place. Once there, he became engulfed in a white light and revealed that the 4400 were taken to the future, altered, and returned to 2004 in an attempt to prevent a future catastrophe that would result in the end of the human race. He asked Tom to help the 4400 accomplish their task.
Season 2
Kyle was taken into custody by NTAC and spent a year in quarantine. He was eventually set free and he and his father moved into a new home together. Kyle registered for college and it seemed life was returning to normal. Kyle soon began to experience blackouts and lost time with no memory of what he'd done during the missing time. Kyle eventually began to have flashes of memory and recalled assassinating Jordan Collier.
Kyle went to see Shawn and admitted that he was responsible for Collier's death. Shawn hugged him and managed to release the entity that was controlling Kyle. Tom tried to cover up Kyle's crime but Kyle eventually turned himself in and was jailed for Collier's death.
Season 3
Kyle refused to see his father while in jail but Tom had to see his son when Jordan Collier appeared at Shawn's wedding. He told him Collier was back but Kyle wasn't sure what to believe until Collier arrived to see him in jail, wanting to know if he had killed him. When Collier regained full memory of who he was, he used his influence to get Kyle out of Jail and back to his family.
Tom and Alana were extremely happy to have Kyle back and were hopeful life would return to normal. Kyle managed to sneak past the press encamped outside his house and went to see Collier. When he returned, he informed his father that he wasn't going back to college and his new purpose was to do as Tom did, help the 4400. He planned to visit 4400 centers around the country and talk about his experiences. Tom was disappointed and tried to talk him out of it but Kyle was determined and Tom had to let him go.
Season 4
Kyle became one of many people who accepted the free promicin distributed by Collier's believers. Kyle believed in Collier's plan to change the world and thought developing an ability would help him participate in that. He didn't recognize his ability at first but his ability had a mind of its own, in the form of a woman how introduced herself Cassie Dunleavy. Kyle initially believed Cassie to be a real person until she informed him otherwise. Cassie believes that Kyle is the shaman spoken of in the prophecies written in the text of the White Light cult who all died in the early twentieth century.
