Kobol

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Kobol is a fictional planet on the series Battlestar Galactica.

Far from the Colonies, but not so far from human memory, lies the planet Kobol. Whether an article of Colonial faith or forgotten history, Kobol is at the heart of all the human race stands for.

The legendary home of the thirteen tribes, Kobol is thought of as the birthplace of all humanity. It was a lush world of vast oceans and large continents with swathes of woodland, grassland, and forests. It was once a living paradise, where humanity lived side by side with the divine Lords of Kobol. It was this planet where the grand City of the Gods resided. Within this grand city, a Utopian society flourished.

A great calamity shattered this fleeting harmony. A jealous god would attempt to rise above the others and spark a great war. So bloody was this conflict that the Lords of Kobol deigned to banish humanity from the planet. It was the Lord Zeus himself who decreed that humanity would never be allowed to return without paying a "price in blood." Thus began the Great Exodus from Kobol.

Twelve tribes would depart on a long, arduous journey. They would find the twelve worlds, and be the founders of twelve new nations. Another tribe, the fabled thirteenth, is said to have left for another world, Earth. It would take another 2,000 years, and another near-extinction, for humanity to set foot on this lost world once more.
