Knight Rider is a 2008 TV series based on the 1982 original series of the same name created by Glen A. Larson. The 1982 series had several followup movies and series and, in February, 2008, a TV movie remake of the series directed by Steve Shill debuted on NBC. This series picks up from that movie. The series does not recast the original lead star Michael Knight played by David Hasselhoff in the original series. Instead, the character from the 2008 movie, Mike Traceur portrayed Justin Bruening, will take on the lead role as the driver of the artificially intelligent car K.I.T.T. (knight Industries Three Thousand). KITT is a different model from the original series, now a Ford Mustang.
