Knight Rider was a television show produced by Glen A. Larson that ran on NBC from 1982 to 1986. It starred David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight and William Daniels as the voice of KITT, the artificially intelligent Pontiac Trans-Am that Knight drove on behalf of Knight Industries. Other lead actors included Edward Mulhare as Devon Miles, Patricia McPherson as Bonnie Barstow, Rebecca Holden as April Curtis, and Peter Parros as Reginald Cornelius III (RC3).
Knight Rider detailed the adventures of Michael Long, a detective who had nearly been killed. Left for dead, he was found and rehabilitated through the generosity of Wilton Knight of the Knight Foundation. After facial reconstruction and speaking to Knight on his deathbed, in which he told Michael that "one man can make a difference," he changed his last name to Knight and accepted the duties and responsibilites given to him. He was to become a operative for the Foundation for Law and Government (FLAG) and the driver for their state-of-the-art vehicle, KITT.
Follow Ups
Knight Rider lasted four seasons and spawned a TV movie "Knight Rider 2000" in 1991. A movie remake of Knight Rider debuted on NBC on February 17, 2008. Thanks to good ratings for the movie, a series went into production for a fall 2008 debut.
