Kingdom Hospital was a 2004 thirteen episode miniseries based on Lars von Trier's Danish mini series, Riget. The series was developed by Stephen King for ABC and began airing on March 3, 2004. The series centered on Kingdom Hospital in Lewiston, Maine. The hospital was the second built on the site, formerly home to a mill factory that made uniforms during the American Civil War. The hospital is haunted by the spirits of those who died in the fire that destroyed the first hospital, Old Kingdom.
