Kindred: The Embraced (1996) was a short-lived FOX TV series created by John Leekly and produced by Aaron Spelling. Based on the White Wolf roleplaying game Vampire: The Masquerade, the series followed the machinations of Julian Luna, the Vampire Prince of the vampire clans based in San Francisco, and a member of the Ventrue clan, as he tried to maintain control over his clans, keep the peace, and ensure they all followed the rules.
The show starred C. Thomas Howell as Detective Frank Kohanek. Frank investigates a suspected mob boss, Julian Luna, and discovers a world he never knew existed in his own city. Caitlin, a newspaper editor, becomes involved with Julian and is drawn into a world of vampires, where, as a human, she is at a disadvantage.

Only eight episodes aired before the show was cancelled. The series' co-star, Mark Frankel, died in a motorcycle accident in London shortly after on September 24, 1996.
