Kevin McKidd (b. August 9, 2007, Elgin, Moray, Scotland) is a Scottish actor who is best known for his role on the HBO series Rome as Lucius Vorenus. McKidd was a member of his local theatre and attended the University of Edinburgh to study engineering. He eventually dropped out and attended Queen Margaret College in Edinburgh to study drama. He joined the University's theatre company Bedlam Theatre.
McKidd landed a role in the play The Silver Darlings produced by Robert Carlyle's Rain Dog Theatre Company. Noteworthy early roles include that of Tommy in Trainspotting and Malky Johnson in Small Faces. Other notable movie roles include Hideous Kinky with Kate Winslet, The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns, the Oscar-winning Topsy-Turvy, Nicholas Nickleby, De-Lovely with Kevin Spacey, Kingdom of Heaven, and Hannibal Rising. McKidd took on the role of Lucius Vorenus in the award-winning Rome in 2005. He then filmed the period war drama The Last Legion, and took on yet another American television role in the NBC time travel drama, Journeyman.
Other upcoming roles include Made of Honor, and Dylan. McKidd is also rumored to be playing the role of Thor in the 2009 film of the same name.
