Kevin Norwood Bacon (July 8, 1958 - ) is a versatile American actor born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the youngest of six children born to Ruth and Edmund Bacon. Bacon decided early that he wanted to be an actor. He left home at 18 and moved to New York to pursue theater. He attended the Circle in the Square Theater School and became one of the youngest students to appear in a production.
Bacon made his film debut in the 1978 film Animal House. He returned to the stage, appearing in Getting Out and Flux. In 1980, he appeared in Friday the 13th and the comedy Hero at Large. His breakout role came in the 1984 film Footloose in which he played Ren McCormack a city kid who moves to a town ruled by a repressive fundamentalist minister with rules against dancing.
Bacon's contributions to the genre include roles in the films The Demon Murder Case as Kenny Miller, Tremors as Valentine McKee, Flatliners as David Labraccio, Stir of Echoes as Tom Witzky , and Hollow Man as Sebastian Caine.
Personal Life
Bacon married actress Kyra Sedgwick on September 4, 1988. They have appeared in the films Cavedweller, Pyrates, Lemon Sky and The Woodsman together. They have two children, Travis Sedg and Sosie Ruth Bacon.
