Lt. Karl C. Agathon (Helo) (played by Tahmoh Penikett), on The SCI FI Channel TV series Battlestar Galactica, is Sharon Valerii's former ECO. He gave up his seat on the Raptor so Dr. Baltar could be evacuated to the Galactica and was left to fend for himself on Cylon-occupied Caprica.

Helo went his separate way from the Caprica survivors, who later died of radiation poisoning. He survived on his own with anti-radiation medication before eventually being captured by Number Six. He was rescued by Sharon, a Number Eight model impersonating Boomer aka Sharon Valerii. In an elaborate deception aimed at making Helo fall in love with her, Sharon and Helo travel across Caprica and eventually discovered a fall out shelter with adequate food supplies. Helo admitted to Sharon that he knew about her secret relationship with Chief Tyrol and that he'd had feelings for her himself but had kept silent. They eventually had sex and the two fell in love, prompting Sharon to go against the Cylon plan and truly help Helo escape.

During their attempt to reach Delphi, Agathon sees a Number Six copy whom he believed had been killed and also witnesses another Sharon. Not quite understanding what was happening, he abandoned Sharon and decided to journey alone. She eventually caught up with him and revealed that she was in fact a Cylon, and pregnant with his child. Sharon helped Helo and Kara Thrace, whom they encountered on the planet, escape and return to Galactica.

After months of being absent from Galactica, Helo was not given a warm welcome, due in large part to his admitted love for Sharon who was immediately imprisoned. Helo had a run-in with Chief Galen Tyrol who was involved with the Sharon copy known as "Boomer". The two eventually realized the futility of fighting and accepted the reality of the situation. They later rescued Sharon from an attempted rape by Battlestar Pegasus officers, accidentally killing an officer in the process. They were both imprisoned, court martialed and sentenced to death by Admiral Helena Cain. A standoff with the Galactica, the discovery and destruction of a Cylon resurrection ship, and the murder of Cain eventually led to their release.

Sharon later gave birth to their daughter, Hera. They were informed a short while after her birth that she died and Sharon was initially disbelieving, believing someone had murdered her. Sharon became depressed over the loss of her baby and Helo could do little to comfort her. Helo remained on Galactica with her during the colonization of New Caprica and the two got married. During the Cylon occupation, he served as Galactica's tactical officer. He was promoted to captain and also served as the ship's XO during that time.

While on a mission, Sharon Agathon discovered a Cylon basestar and its inhabitants who had been infected with a virus deadly to Cylons. The survivors were brought on board Galactica, where Roslin planned to use them as a means of destroying the entire Cylon race. Disagreeing with the genocidal plan, Helo sabotaged the plan, suffocating the Cylons before Galactica got in range of the Cylon Resurrection Ship, preventing them from downloading and spreading the virus to the rest of the Cylons.

Helo found himself on the wrong side on a few more occasions. When Sharon discovered their daughter was alive on board a nearby Cylon Basestar in "The Eye of Jupiter" she asked Helo to kill her so she could be downloaded into a new body on the ship and retrieve their baby. Their plan succeeded and Helo reunited with his wife and daughter but Helo again risked the trust of his superior officers.

In "The Woman King" Helo had difficulty convincing his superior officers of his belief that Caprican Dr. Robert was killing Sagittaron refugees on board Galactica. He was eventually vindicated but the situation raised issues about his loyalty.
