Karen Marie Moning

Karen Marie Moning is an American author born on November 1, 1964 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She earned her bachelor's degree in society and law from Purdue University. Moning is the author of several well-received novels that have appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. She has been nominated for several awards, and won a Romantic Times Reader's Choice award for her first novel, Beyond the Highland Mist, as well as a RITA award for her third novel, The Highlander's Touch. Her novel The Dark Highlander was ranked in the Top 10 favorite books of the year by Romance Writers of America. Her other novels include The Spell of the Highlander, Kiss of the Higlander, The Immortal Highlander, and To Tame a Highlander. Darkfever and Into the Dreaming will be published in 2006.

Moning's novels center on powerful heroes from ancient Scotland. Common themes are magic, faeries, and time travel. Her books are filled with mythology from Ireland and Scotland, and Celtic lore. They are often peppered with immortal beings, mainly in the form of mischievous, beautiful fairies and Druid warriors.

Her books are available in many languages, including Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and Spanish.
