Plot

Crichton finds a wormhole to Earth only to discover he has arrived before he left, in 1986, a situation he was warned about by the ancient he nicknamed Einstein. D'Argo, Chiana, Aeryn, and Noranti join him and they go down to the planet. He visits his home in Kansas leaving Aeryn and the others in a nearby abandoned house. Crichton discovers her father is the new commander of the Challenger spacecraft mission which blew up, killing everyone inside. He must prevent his father from going on the mission and save the future.

John visits himself, an angry teenager, and advises him to talk to his dad and convince him not to fly on the Challenger. Young John doesn't believe he'll be able to convince him however.

Aeryn is enjoying watching Sesame Street and learning English while Chiana is antsy to see Earth. Despite warning, she goes out on her own and runs across Young John. He invites her to a party. A neighbor comes across the others in the house and soon a cop stops by to check the place out. Aeryn trys out her English but he soon sees D'argo and despite the explanation that he is wearing a mask, the cop is wary. Noranti uses a powder on him which makes him highly suggestive and he leaves believing all is OK.

On Moya, Peacekeeper marauders approach and Pilot wants to leave . Sikozu reminds him that if they starburst, Moya will not be able to find the wormhole's location again and Crichton and the rest of the crew will be stuck. Also, if they run, Grayza will assume Crichton is on board and track them down. She suggests they let her on board so she can see that Crichton is not there.

Aeryn meets up with Crichton and they stop by his house. His mother, who died four years before he left Earth, is still alive and he goes to see her. She reads tarot cards and he says he did a reading of his own and saw something bad happening to her husband over the weekend. He insists that she must not let him go.

To save his future and that of everyone on Moya, John wants to recreate a fire that prevented his father going on the Challenger mission in the original timeline. His father rescued him and John was in a coma for two days. Noranti offers her help but John declines.

The cop returns to the house and Noranti uses him to test drugs she hopes to use on Young Crichton to recreate the coma. D'Argo insists she stop and the return the cop to his car and D'Argo attempts to drive off. The strange incident is witnessed by a neighbor.

On Moya, Grayza, Braca and the Peacekeeper crew search the ship for Crichton. Scorpius and Sikozu hide but Scorpius is discovered by Braca. Braca informs him there are thirty Peackeepers on board and the two embrace. Braca tells him Grayza's making an alliance with the Scarrans whom Scorpius is sure will betray her. Having not found Crichton, Grayza decides to leave. She leaves behind an alien creature with a sample of Crichton's DNA and an order to capture him alive.

D'Argo, Aeryn, and Noranti have come up with a plan to recreate John's accident and John goes off to find his young self. Chiana tells him she'll get Young John while he takes care of John's girlfriend, Kim. Chiana kisses John but successfully gets him to the house where she brings him Noranti's serum. He drinks the serum but Noranti miscalculated the dose and Young John's heart stops. Crichton begins to disappear.

The cops return to the house and Aeryn lets them in and she and D'Argo knock them out. Noranti manages to get John's heart going again but Crichton doesn't completely reappear. He is still invisible. He uses the situation to his advantage and goes to visit his mother and tells her that Young John is in danger. She goes off to get her husband and misses John's feeble attempt to warn her about her own death from cancer.

Noranti finishes setting up the fire with a drugged suggestion to Young John to forget everything. Jack goes in search of his son in the smoke filled house. The same neighbor from before wanders by and Aeryn knocks her out before she can mess up their plans. Jack falls unconscious in the house and John and D'Argo must rescue him while John rescues his younger self. Jack witnesses John leaving the scene.

John and friends return through the wormhole and reappear in Earth orbit this time in 2003. On Earth, he is met by his Dad and three other people in suits. John pulls his weapon and asks his father: "Was it a bass or a trout?"
