Kandyse McClure

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Kandyse McClure (b. 1980) plays Petty Officer Anastasia Dualla on The SCI FI Channel TV series Battlestar Galactica. Though her professional acting career is barely older than the new millennium, the African-Canadian became a popular new face through the Fox Family series Higher Ground (with future Star Wars star Hayden Christensen) and NBC's Saturday-morning series Just Deal. This "young Halle Berry" went on to become a rising SF star through her recurring role as Elizabeth Munroe on Showtime's Jeremiah.

Born in South Africa and now living in Vancouver, British Columbia, McClure also won acclaim from a host of major newspaper critics for her role as Sue Snell, the haughty, popular high-school girl who gains a conscience, in the 2002 telefilm remake of Stephen King's Carrie.

McClure made her screen debut in the 1999 TV movie In a Class of His Own. She has gone on to such telefilms as 2gether, Return to Cabin by the Lake, L.A. Law: The Movie, and Framed; and starred as a college student caught up in a deadly love triangle in the USA Network Original Movie Passion and Prejudice. On the big screen, she has appeared in Romeo Must Die and See Spot Run, and on TV has guested on the Canadian series Da Vinci's Inquest and Level 9, played Annie Fisher in two episodes of Dark Angel, and starred in the "Abduction" episode of the SCI FI Original seventh season of The Outer Limits.

"Amazing things keep happening," she has said. "I got the part with Lou Diamond Phillips (in In a Class of His Own) on my first audition ever. The part was written for a guy but the director changed it for me. And then I got a TV series, Higher Ground. It was like I took the Concorde. And with Just Deal, I auditioned for two episodes and it turned into seven months." The Concorde aside, McClure remains grounded. "I never expect this is what I'm always going to do," she muses. "I'm always preparing for a regular life." Judging from her career so far, she might have to prepare for stardom instead.
