Julie Newmar (born August 16, 1933, in Los Angeles, California) is an American actor.
She is best known for her portrayal of Catwoman on the Adam West Batman TV series. Her performance was cutting edge for the time: not only was her Catwoman beautiful (and aware of it), she was cruel and confident. Even the postures she took were unusual in television for the time. Along with Frank Gorshin's Riddler, she helped define Batman as an actor's series, making it a prestige item to appear as a Special Guest Villain.
This was actually her second genre series. She had appeared as Rhoda the android on the Bob Cumming's sitcom, My Living Doll.
She has continued to work in the genre throughout her career.
