Josh Gates, host of the SCI FI Channel's Destination Truth series, is originally from the small town of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Massachusetts. A graduate of Boston's renowned Tufts University, Gates holds degrees in archeology and drama. His work and travels have taken him to more than 50 countries around the world.

An avid SCUBA diver, Gates has assisted in sub-sea archeological excavations off the coast of Israel, and as a photographer he has traveled to remote villages in Bangladesh and Nepal. Recently, Gates scaled "the roof of Africa" on Mt. Kilimanjaro and climbed on Aconcagua, the tallest mountain in the Americas. From the Far East to the Wild West, Gates is passionate about photographing the unique places he visits and the diverse people he meets along the way.

Gates currently resides in Los Angeles, where he works as a photographer.
