Jonathan Pryce (June 1, 1947 Holywell, Flintshire, Wales - ) is a Welsh actor born to coal miner Isaac Price and retail worker Margaret Ellen. He is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.
A well-regarded stage performer, Pryce has not shied away from the movies and genre work. He plays Elizabeth's father, Governor Weatherby Swan, in the wildly popular Pirates of the Caribbean movies. However, genre fans got to know him twenty years earlier as Mr. Dark in Something Wicked This Way Comes based on the Ray Bradbury novel.
He worked with director Terry Gilliam repeatedly, on Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, and The Brothers Grimm. Pryce entered the world of James Bond as an evil media mogul in Tomorrow Never Dies. He also appeared in a comic version of Doctor Who as The Doctor's nemesis, The Master, in Doctor Who and the Curse of the Fatal Death (opposite Mr. Bean's Rowan Atkinson as The Doctor).
Other genre work includes gothic horror film, The Doctor and the Devils, Haunted Honeymoon, 'a guest appearance on The Storyteller, a voice role in A Troll in Central Park, the religious horror film Stigmata and Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister.
