Jon Finch (b. March 2, 1941) Likeable British leading man who got his start with Hammer in such films as The Horror of Frankenstein (1970) and The Vampire Lovers (1970) before starring in such films as Roman Polanski’s Macbeth (1971), Alfred Hitchcock’s Frenzy (1972) and The Final Programme (1973), based on the novel by Michael Moorcock. After being taken ill on set, he was replaced in Alien (1980) by John Hurt. The actor made a belated return to genre films in the 1994 H.P. Lovecraft adaptation Lurking Fear.
