Johnny Mnemonic is a 1995 Canadian cyberpunk thriller directed by Robert Longo based on the short story by William Gibson. The film was set in 2021 when the internet has become a truly global network and half the population is suffering from Nerve Attenuation Syndrome. Keanu Reeves starred as Johnny Mnemonic, a data courier who stores and transports information in his brain, via a neural implant. On a run, transporting information from Beijing to Newark, he discovers he's being chased by Yakuza agents working for Pharmakom Industries who want the data back. He must find a way to remove the information from his mind in twenty-four hours before it kills him.
