John Savage (b. John Youngs on August 25, 1949 in Bethpage, Long Island, New York) is an American film and television actor. Savage began acting in the 1950s but his career finally gained momentum in the 1970s and he landed the role of Steven opposite Robert De Niro in 1978's The Deer Hunter. Genre fans may remember Savage as the cold and pragmatic Donald Lydecker on the Fox series Dark Angel. Quite often the villain, Savage also appeared on Star Trek: Voyager as Captain Rudy Ransom and on the HBO series Carnivàle as Henry Scudder. Notable films include Hair, The Godfather Part III, White Squall, Message in a Bottle, and The New World.
