John Ottman (b. July 6, 1964) is an American composer born in San Diego, California. Ottman is a graduate of the USC School of Cinema-Television. He is best known for his work with director Bryan Singer and his composed scores for several of Singer's films including X2, Superman Returns, and Apt Pupil. Ottman also took a turn as director of the film Urban Legends: Final Cut and served as editor on Superman Returns and X2. He will also edit the upcoming Tom Cruise film Valkyrie.

Ottman has also composed scores for the video game I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream, and the films The Cable Guy, Snow White: A Tale of Terror, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, lake Placid, Eight Legged Freaks, Gothika, Cellular, House of Wax, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and The Invasion. He will also lend his composing talents to the upcoming films Valkyrie, Logan's Run, The Avengers, and Superman: The Man of Steel.
