John Diehl (b. May 1, 1950 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American actor who may be remembered by some for his role in the Stargate as Charles Kawalsky and others for his recurring roles on series such as The Shield as Assistant Chief Ben Gilroy and the short-lived series Point Pleasant as David Burke. Diehl began his acting career in the early 80s playing small parts in movies like Escape from New York, Stripes and Falling in Love Again. Diehl's other genre appearances over the years have included the films Hysterical, City Limits, The Dark Side of the Moon, Almost Dead, The Outpost, Amanda & the Alien , Three Wishes, Lost Souls, The Zeros, and Jurassic Park III . His TV guest appearances include Monsters. Beauty and the Beast, The Outer Limits, The X-Files, and Dead Last.
