John Carter of Mars is a film based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' character John Carter, who first appeared in A Princess of Mars, the film's first working title. The film is being developed by Pixar Animation and Walt Disney Pictures and will be directed by Andrew Stanton. It was expected, in 2004, that Robert Rodriguez would serve as director with Mark Protosevich as screenwriter however, a dispute with the Directors Guild of America forced Rodriguez to resign from the guild and forced him to leave the project.

Synopsis

In the film, war veteran John Cater is transported to Mars where he discovers a lush environment inhabited by giant barbaric green aliens who take him captive. He escapes and comes across Princess of Helium, Dejah Thoris.
