Joe Morton is an American actor born in New York, New York on October 18, 1947. He most recently starred in the summer crowd-pleaser Stealth with Jamie Foxx, Jessica Biel, and Sam Shepard. This only adds to the distinguished list of actors Morton has worked alongside in both features and telefilms, including Ben Affleck and Uma Thurman in John Woo's Paycheck; Jon Voight in the Showtime movie Jasper, Texas; Will Smith in Ali; Kevin Costner in Dragonfly; and Gwyneth Paltrow in Bounce. Morton was one of the narrators on the enormously successful Ken Burns documentary Jazz and the eight-part documentary Africa on PBS.
Film fans perhaps best know Morton as The Brother from Another Planet or as the ill-fated scientist in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. Morton's other film credits include John Sayles's Lone Star and City of Hope; Speed; Executive Decision; The Astronaut's Wife; Blues Brothers 2000; Tap, with Gregory Hines; and Gary Sinese's Of Mice and Men, in which he portrayed Crooks.
Morton was a Tony Award Nominee for his portrayal of Walter Lee Younger in the musical Raisin. He played Serge in Art on Broadway with Judd Hirsch and George Wendt, and later reprised the role on the London stage. Morton also played Colin Powell in David Hare's Stuff Happens at the National Theatre of London.
Television audiences have enjoyed Morton's starring roles in the series Equal Justice for ABC, Under One Roof with James Earl Jones on CBS, and Tribeca for Fox (for which he also directed an episode). He also has played a recurring role on The WB's Smallville and appeared in multiple episodes of CSI: NY and the pilot for NBC's E-Ring. Morton has turned in noteworthy performances for such productions as Ali: An American Hero and the award-winning cable feature Miss Evers' Boys, and he delivered a spectacular star turn during a guest appearance on The X-Files.
On the SCI FI Channel's series Eureka, Morton plays Henry Deacon, a true jack-of-all-trades masquerading as the local mechanic. His feats of engineering are a constant source of wonder and amusement to the town.
