Jimmy Sangster (1924 - ) is a British writer, director and producer who began working at Hammer in the late 1940s as an assistant director. With his scripts for The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), Dracula (1958), Revenge of Frankenstein (1958) and The Mummy (1959) he established the tone for the studio’s output for the next decade. He briefly turned director in 1970 for two Hammer projects, The Horror of Frankenstein and Lust For a Vampire, and his other scripting credits include Room to Let (1950), Spaceways (1953), X the Unknown (1956), The Trollenberg Terror (aka The Crawling Eye, 1958), Blood of the Vampire (1958), Jack the Ripper (1959), The Man Who Could Cheat Death (1959), The Brides of Dracula (1960), Taste of Fear (aka Scream of Fear, 1961), Maniac (1963), Paranoiac (1963), Nightmare (1964), Hysteria (1965), The Nanny (1966), The Anniversary (1968), A Taste of Evil (1971), Whoever Slew Auntie Roo? (aka Who Slew Auntie Roo?, 1971), Crescendo (1972), Fear in the Night (1972), Good Against Evil (1977), The Legacy (1979) and Phobia (1980). He also scripted an episode of TV’s Kolchak: The Night Stalker (“Horror in the Heights”).
