James Maury Henson (b. September 24, 1936 Greenville, Mississippi – May 16, 1990, New York City, New York) is a well known American puppeteer whose best known work includes Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock and The Dark Crystal. Henson is also a multiple award-winning director and producer and the founder of the Jim Henson Company, Jim Henson Foundation and Jim Henson's Creature Shop. The Jim Henson Company has been responsible for such productions as Farscape, Labyrinth, Muppet Treasure Island and MirrorMask.
