Jessica Biel (b. March 3, 1982) is an American actress who came to fame playing a minister's daughter on the TV series Seventh Heaven. She was born in from Ely, Minnesota to Edward Biel, and Kimberly Conroe and raised in Boulder, Colorado with her younger brother, Justin. She began vocal training at a young age with the goal of performing in musical theater. She appeared on stage in productions of The Sound of Music, Annie, Beauty and the Beast, and Anything Goes.

Biel won a breakout role on Seventh Heaven playing Mary Camden in 1996 at age fourteen. By age seventeen, she was antsy to break out of the good girl role and appeared in a risqué photo series in a men's magazine in an attempt to get kicked off the show. It worked, and she was released from her contract.

After leaving Seventh Heaven behind, Biel appeared in Summer Catch with Freddie Prinze Jr., The Rules of Attraction and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. None of the films were great successes. In 2004, she starred in Blade: Trinity alongside Wesley Snipes, and Cellular with Kim Basinger. 2005 brought Stealth which proved to be a box office disappointment despite its star cast. Biel turned down a role in The Fog deciding to steer away from horror films.

Biel's film career took an upswing with roles in Elizabethtown and The Illusionist. In 2007, she appeared opposite Nicolas Cage in Next, and had a hit with I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry.
