Jerry Goldsmith

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Jerry Goldsmith (February 10, 1929 Pasadena, California - July 21, 2004) was an American composer.

One of the most lauded film composers (17 Oscar nominations), he is particularly well-known for his genre work. While Oscar isn't especially friendly to Sci Fi films, Goldsmith received nominations for The Planet of the Apes, The Omen (for which he won), The Boys from Brazil, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Poltergeist, and Mulan.

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films has also honored him with many Saturn Award nominations.

Jerry Goldsmith is the father of Joel Goldsmith, known for his work on Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis.
