Jensen Ross Ackles (March 1, 1978) is an American actor and former model born in Dallas, Texas to to Roger Alan Ackles and Donna Joan Shaffer. He is the second of three children with an older brother, Joshua and a younger sister, MacKenzie. He began modeling as a child but switched gears to focus on acting. He attended Lloyd V. Berkner High School in Richardson, Texas and had plans to study at Texas Tech University before making the decision to focus on acting.
Career
Ackles moved to Los Angeles and won guest roles in the TV Series Mr. Rhodes, Sweet Valley High and Cybil. In 1997 he appeared on the soap opera Days of Our Lives as Eric Brady. He won a Soap Opera Digest Award for Best Male Newcomer and was nominated three times for a Daytime Emmy Award for his work on Days of Our Lives.
Following his soap opera stint, he appeared in the TV Movie Blonde in 2001. He joined the cast of Dark Angel as Alec/X5-494. When the series ended in 2002, he joined the cast of Dawson's Creek in the role of C.J. He also filmed several episodes of an unaired series called Still Life which also starred Morena Baccarin. He followed up with a small role in The Plight of Clownana. In 2004, Ackles landed a recurring role on Smallville as Jason Teague, a boyfriend of Lana Lang. He followed up with the horror film Devour.
In 2005, Ackles joined Jared Padalecki as the lead actors in the WB series Supernatural. The series is currently in its third season. In 2007 he appeared in the film Ten Inch Hero with Elisabeth Harnois, Clea DuVall and Sean Patrick Flanery.
Jensen has also finished a production of the play A Few Good Men at Casa MaƱana Theatre in Fort Worth, TX as Lieutenant Junior Grade Daniel A. Kaffee. .The show ran from June 5 - 10, 2007
