Jeff Daniels (b. February 19, 1955, Athens, Georgia) is an Golden Globe-nominated American actor known to genre fans in such films as Arachnophobia, The Butcher's Wife, Grand Tour: Disaster in Time, Pleasantville, and My Favorite Martian. Daniels is perhaps better known for his dramatic roles in critically acclaimed films like Fly Away Home, Gods and Generals, The Squid and the Whale, and Good Night and Good luck. Daniels won a 1991 Saturn Award for Best Actor in Arachnophobia. He was nominated three times for a Golden Globe for The Purple Rose of Cairo in 1995, Something Wild in 1986 and The Squid and the Whale in 2005.
In 2008, Daniels will voice a role in the animated film Space Chimps. He also appears in the film Traitors alongside Don Cheadle and Neal McDonough.
