Jeannie Miller is a fictional character on the series Stargate Atlantis. Jeannie is the sister of Dr. Rodney McKay and is played by David Hewlett's sister, Kate Hewlett. Jeannie appeared in the episode "McKay and Mrs. Miller". She was previously mentioned in "Letters from Pegasus "
Like her brother, Jeannie studied theoretical physics. She dropped out of the community when she married and had a daughter, and did not publish any papers. This decision caused a rift between her and Rodney who believed she could do much greater things and did not respect her decision. The two did not speak for another four years until Rodney was recalled to Earth to convince Jeannie to sign a non-disclosure agreement from the Pentagon, granting her security clearance to learn about the Stargate program. Col. Samantha Carter had attempted to recruit her after a proof that grabbed the attention of Stargate Program scientists.
Jeannie's proof was pivotal in the development of power generation technology that could prove revolutionary for powering Atlantis and Earth's fight against The Ori. It enabled the formation for a bridge between two uinverses that allowed power to be drawn from one into our own, similar to Zero Point Module technology.
Jeannie was eventually convinced that the government needed her help after witnessing alien technology in action. She visited Atlantis to work with her brother and Atlantis scientists on implementing her proof. Her work led to the a successful connection to another universe. Unfortunately, the universe proved to be an occupied one and another Rodney came through to inform them of the damage their actions caused to his universe.
The second Rodney, proved to be much less abrasive and more amiable than her own brother and the two got along much better. This only caused more friction between Jeannie and her real brother. The two eventually mended their relationship when Rodney realized he truly had not been a brother to her. The two promised not to let another four years pass without a word and Jeannie returned to Earth.
