Jay Anson (b. November 4, 1921 – March 12, 1980) is an American author whose best known work is his premier book, The Amityville Horror. The book was published as a non-fiction account of a haunting, although the veracity of the events has since been questioned. He followed up his breakout success with the novel 666 published in 1981 after his death in 1980.
