Jared Tristan Padalecki (July 19, 1982 San Antonio, Texas) is an American actor. He is best known to Sci Fi fans for his role as Sam Winchester on Supernatural. Padalecki began studying acting at age 12 and won a Claim to Fame Contest in 1999 which earned him an appearance on the Teen Choice Awards. He graduated from James Madison High School in 2000 and shortly after, moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting.
Padalecki won parts in the movies A Little Inside and Silent Witness before his breakout role on the WB Network series Gilmore Girls. Other roles include appearances on ER and the movies Young MacGyver, Cheaper by the Dozen, New York Minute and Flight of the Phoenix.
In 2005, Padalecki starred in House of Wax and Cry_Wolf. He also began starring in the paranormal horror series Supernatural as Sam Winchester opposite Jensen Ackles.
In 2008, Padalecki completed the movies Thomas Kinkade's Home for Christmas and Friday the 13th.
