Janus

<span class="SFPTagline"> From SCIFIPEDIA </span>

Janus in Roman mythology is the god who was supposed to guard the gates of Rome.

He is represented in Roman art with a scepter in his right hand and a key in his left, sitting on a golden throne.

Janus also has two faces, one youthful and the other aged, the one looking forward and the other backward. The month of January is named after him; looking forward to the new year and backward to the past year.
