Jan de Bont

Jan de Bont (b.October 22, 1943, Eindhoven, Noord-Brabant, Netherlands) is a Dutch cinematographer, producer, and director and one of seventeen children born into a Roman Catholic family. de bont worked primarily as a cinematographer before making his directorial debut with the hit film Speed starring Keanu Reeves. His followup, Twister was a box office hit but was followed up with the less successful Speed sequel, Speed 2: Cruise Control, The Haunting, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life and the 2008 sharkfest, Meg. As a producer, he worked on Minority Report, Equilibrium, Thoughtcrimes and The Un-Dead. de Bont began working on English-language films as a cinematographer in th early eighties after several years in Dutch film. He worked on the film adaptation of the Stephen King novel, Cujo, The Jewel of the Nile, The Clan of the Cave Bear, Die Hard, The Hunt for Red October , Flatliners, Basic Instinct and Lethal Weapon 3.
