James L. Brooks

James L. Brooks (May 9, 1940 North Bergen, New Jersey - ) is an American producer.
Brooks is one of TV's most successful sitcom producers. He is especially associated with the MTM comedies in the 1970s, including The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rhoda, Lou Grant, and Taxi.
His work on The Tracey Ullman Show led to what is his best known genre accomplishment. A cartoon segment on that variety show became a cultural phenomenon on its own: The Simpsons. James L. Brooks has been the Executive Producer on that show for about 400 episodes. He is also producing The Simpsons Movie (2007).
His other big-screen credits include the Penny Marshall fantasy, Big, starring Tom Hanks.
