James Edward Franco (b. April 19, 1978) is a Golden Globe-winning American actor born in Palo Alto, California. Franco landed his break through role starring on the series Freaks and Geeks but is probably better remembered by genre fans for his role as Harry Osborn in the Spider-Man films. Franco grew up with his two younger brothers and after high school, attended UCLA to study English.
While in college, he became interested in acting and left UCLA after his first year to study at Robert Carnegie's Playhouse West and pursue acting professionally. Franco has since appeared in numerous films, including Never Been Kissed with Drew Barrymore, a Golden Globe winning performance in James Dean, Spider-Man, The Company, with Neve Campbell, Spider-Man 2, Tristan + Isolde, The Wicker Man, and Spider-Man 3.
