James Earl Jones (b. January 17, 1931, Arkabutla, Mississippi) is an Academy Award-winning American actor and voice artist known for his deep dramatic voice, exhibited in such films as Star Wars, and The Lion King. Jones was nominated for an Oscar for his role in The Great White Hope as boxer Jack Jefferson and also won a Golden Globe for the same performance. . Jones has been nominated ten times for the Emmy and won three Emmy awards for his performance in the Children's Special, Summer's End and his roles in Heat Wave and Gabriel's Fire.
Among Jones many genre contributions are Exorcist II: The Heretic, Conan the Barbarian , Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi , Faerie Tale Theatre, The Meteor Man, Touched by an Angel, Stargate SG-1, Robots, and Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey.
In 1975, he starred (with Estelle Parsons) in an influential TV dramatizaion of the Betty and Barney Hill UFO case, The UFO Incident.
