Jack Nicholson (April 22, 1937 Manhattan, New York City, New York - ) is an American actor.
Multiple Oscar winner, Roger Corman regular, and yes, writer for the Monkees, Jack Nicholson has had an extraordinary career. He is one of the best-known and most storied movie stars, and a popular subject for impressionists.
His genre career begain with Roger Corman's Little Shop of Horrors (1960), in which he really took pains to deliver a memorable performance.
In 1963 he worked again with Corman on The Raven and The Terror. He reportedly handled some of the behind the camera chores on the latter.
He guested on several 1960s TV series (including Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, until his star-making role in Easy Rider (1969).
After a number of acclaimed roles, he played Jack Torrance in Stanley Kubrick's adaptation of Stephen King's novel, The Shining. It was one of his most memorable roles, and the movie has many fans.
In 1987, many thought it was perfect casting when Nicholson played the womanizing devil, Daryl Van Horne, in The Witches of Eastwick (movie).
1989 brought him the role of comic book supervillain, The Joker, in Tim Burton's reboot of the Batman franchise. The performance would earn him his second Saturn Award nomination.
Another strong director, Mike Nichols, would bring out the animal in Nicholson in Wolf.
In an inspired bit of casting, Jack Nicholson plays the President in a cameo in Burton's Mars Attacks! (based on the trading cards).
