Jack Carter is a fictional character on the series Eureka portrayed by Colin Ferguson. A former US Marshall working in LA, Carter took on the role of Sheriff in the small company town of Eureka. His delinquent teenage daughter, Zoe moved from LA to the small town to be with her dad. Though initially wary of the prospect he warmed to the idea and began making up for the many years before when his job took precedence over his family.

In his job Carter is forced to deal with the numerous strange happenings in the town. He depends on scientist Henry Deacon and Global Dynamics liaison Allison Blake to help with his investigations many of which lead back to the town's main employer and source for scientific oddities, Global Dynamics. Carter was immediately attracted to Allison Blake but her ex-husband, Nathan Stark, former head of GD seems to be standing in the way. In fact, women in his life seem to be a source of problems for Jack; even his house, S.A.R.A.H. has a mind of her own and tendency to lock him out when he hasn't called ahead to say he'll be late for dinner.
