J. Carrol Naish (Joseph Patrick Carrol Naish) (January 21, 1897 – January 24, 1973) Irish-American stage and film actor, often cast an evil foreigner, sympathetic monster or mad doctor in such films as Dr. Renault’s Secret (1942), Batman (serial, 1943), The Monster Maker (1944), House of Frankenstein (1944), Jungle Woman (1944) and Dracula vs. Frankenstein (1970). He played detectives in Universal’s Calling Dr. Death (1943) and The Beast with Five Fingers (1946) and was the eponymous investigator in the TV series The New Adventures of Charlie Chan (1957).
