History

Isabelle is not technically a member of the 4400. Her mother, Lily Tyler, was impregnated when she was abducted and taken to the future. When she was returned with the other 4400, she fell in love with fellow 4400, Richard Tyler and the couple moved in together planning to be a family. Lily discovered that Richard was the father of her baby. Jordan Collier became interested in Lily's pregnancy and believed he should be the one to take care of her. Jordan tried to prevent Lily and Richard from leaving his compound, Arcadia Estates. When he placed his hand on Lily's belly, he suffered extreme paralyzing pain and the aftereffects lasted for several months.

Season 2

Lily gave birth to Isabelle while on the run from Jordan Collier with her husband Richard. The family tried to maintain a low profile and lived in an isolated cabin on the edge of a small town. While in a book store looking at Collier's book, Lily was singled out by religious zealots. Isabelle responded by displaying her powers causing objects to fly around the room and the front windows to explode. Lily and Richard quickly realized they needed to leave town immediately but they were chased and run off the road by their stalkers who then began hunting them with rifles. Isabelle protected her family, turning the hunters' deadly intentions around forcing them to kill each other. It was the first terrifying glimpse of what Isabelle was capable of.

When Isabelle and her family returned to Seattle and moved into The 4400 Center she developed a bond with Jordan Collier who claimed he'd changed. When Maia Skouris predicted Collier's death, he turned to baby Isabelle for confirmation. Isabelle showed him a false vision of the future in which he survived. Maia was right however, and Collier was assassinated.

Some time later, the 4400 began to grow ill. Richard took his family to a safe house with other 4400 who were not ill. Lily, feeling insecure, left the safe house with Isabelle for a house provided by her ex husband Brian. Isabelle fed her mother several terrifying visions in order to get her to return to the safe house and to Richard. It was discovered the source of the illness was a promicin inhibitor given to the 4400 by NTAC Medical to suppress their abilities. Dr. Kevin Burkhoff devised a cure that required pure promicin. Isabelle was the only available source and the promicin she provided healed Shawn Farrell who in turn healed the other 4,400.

After her family's return to the center, Lily was visited by her older daughter Heidi. Lily was happy to see her and introduced Heidi to Isabelle. Lily later learned Heidi suffered and inexplicable rupture of her spleen. Lily and Richard were both afraid Isabelle was the cause.

Not long after, Lily discovered Isabelle was missing when she went in to check on her. She soon passed out. Isabelle had grown up instantly and made her way to Shawn's office and introduced herself to him. Shawn in turn, introduced Isabelle to her stunned father.

Season 3

Isabelle was not alone in her sudden aging. Her mother had also aged and instantly became and elderly woman. Lily was dying and the only way for her to survive was for Isabelle to die. Lily would not make that choice but Isabelle did. She jumped off a high section of the 4400 center building in an attempt to kill herself. To her and everyone else's shock, she got up and walked away completely unharmed.

Isabelle was approached by Matthew Ross who had previously studied her as a baby. Matthew informed her the future had plans for her and slapped her for her suicide attempt. He offered her a syringe with an unknown fluid he said would kill her if she chose to use it. Ultimately, she destroyed it, choosing her own life. Lily soon died.

Isabelle was determined to experience all the rites of passage she'd missed in her rapid growth. She enlisted Shawn’s help in learning how to swim, and drive and ultimately requested that he have sex with her. Shawn at first refused but when Isabelle pressed the issue he couldn't deny his attraction and the two began a sexual relationship. The two kept the relationship a secret from Richard, knowing he would be upset. Isabelle was encouraged to seduce Shawn by Matthew Ross.

When Richard discovered Isabelle and Shawn's relationship he was extremely upset and demanded Shawn end it. Shawn decided to end the relationship but Isabelle simply declared she was not ready for it to end. Angry with her father, she turned her powers against him, almost killing him.

Shawn came under attack by the Nova Group and developed symptoms of disorganized schizophrenia. Richard had him hospitalized despite Isabelle's disagreement. Isabelle believed she could find the NOVA group herself. When Matthew tried to stop her, she killed him. Isabelle broke Shawn out of the hospital and went on a rampage killing several members of the NOVA group before finding their leader, Daniel Armand. Richard managed to convince her not to kill Armand. She instead turned his abilities against him making him schizophrenic.

Shawn was appalled by Isabelle's actions and tried to end their relationship once more. Isabelle asked Richard to talk to him. She believed she had been sent to do terrible things and the only one who could stop her, was Shawn. Shawn began to grow close to his former girlfriend Nikki Hudson but Isabelle warned him that hooking up with her would end badly. Shawn, afraid of what Isabelle might do, shut Nikki out of his life.

Isabelle determined that she and Shawn had to get married. She told him to think of their marriage as an arranged one. Shawn, came to terms with what Isabelle was and tried to kill her but was incapable. Isabelle was unfazed and his attempt on her life, helped convince him that perhaps getting married was the right decision. Isabelle also begins working with Dennis Ryland at Haspel Corp.

Isabelle poured herself into planning their wedding. Shawn searches for a way out but a vision of the future convinces him that marrying her is the lesser of two evils. On the day of their wedding however, Jordan Collier returns and the wedding is postponed. Shawn tells her they may not have to get married after all since Jordan may be able to help her. Isabelle becomes fearful knowing that the last time she saw Collier was shortly before he was assassinated when she gave him a false vision of his future.

When Collier returns, Isabelle apologizes for her past actions and he forgives her. Isabelle is stunned however, when Collier tells her to leave the center and never return. Jordan tells her that the small part of her that is human is not nearly enough to overcome the fact that she is an enemy of the 4400 and that will never change. Isabelle leaves the center and openly makes her alliance with Haspel Corp clear. Isabelle provided Haspel with vast amounts of promicin which they intended to use to create super soldiers with 4400 abilities who would fight the 4400.

When that promicin was taken by Collier and his associates, Isabelle turned against the 4400 Center, threatening the lives of those in the building. She also harmed Shawn putting him into a coma. Tom Baldwin attempted to stop her but it was ultimately Richard who injected her with a drug given to Tom by people from the future. The drug took away Isabelle's abilities rendering her a mere mortal.

Season 4

In the series fourth season Isabelle was imprisoned, no longer in possession of her abilities. She was approached with the offer of moving to a prison where she'd have a small bit more freedom, as long as tests prove she could not recover her abilities by taking promicin. She was informed the test confirmed this fact and was transported.

On route, her transport vehicle met with an accident that freed her. She was taken in by Kyle Baldwin who believed their meeting was no accident. He convinced her to help him translate the book of the white light cult and took her with him to find Jordan Collier. Though Jordan was not convinced of her defection he permitted her to stay. Isabelle appeared truly repentant for all the things she'd done. She apologized to Shawn and Maia but neither seemed truly convinced she'd changed.

Isabelle's father, Richard resurfaced, not to join the movement, but to take his daughter back. He kidnapped her from Promise City and took her to a new home where he drugged her with water altered by a 4400. The substance caused her to revert to a small child. Isabelle was resistant to the process but as she grew younger came to accept it. The influence of another 4400 on Richard caused him to change his mind and return Isabelle to adulthood. He was arrested by NTAC.

Isabelle was approached by "The Marked" in "Ghost in the Machine", specifically, Tom Baldwin. Tom's marked personality wanted her to take back her abilities and used techniques to ensure she survived the reversion. With her abilities back, she was ordered to bring Jordan Collier in. She did so and expected the release of her father in return. Instead, she was ordered to kill Kyle. She attempted to follow through on her orders but was unable to do so. Despite having been warned of a kill switch built in should she attempt to do other than ordered, Isabelle managed to kill Rebecca Parish and free Collier and a newly recovered Tom Baldwin before her death.

Character

Isabelle's power is unquestionably terrifying. In her inital moments as an adult, Isabelle appeared sweet and innocent, without any of the taboos people acquire over time. It soon became apparent that just as when she was a baby, Isabelle saw no reasons why she should not have anything she wanted.

The desire to have things her way was compounded by the fact that she was impervious to harm and had the power to make people do what she wanted, usually through threats and manipulation. Isabelle seems to want to do what's right but her methods of doing so seem to undermine her own best intentions. Isabelle has a clear grasp on her own power and has few qualms against using it against those who get in her way.

Isabelle is unique among the 4400 in that she has more than one ability. She has been shown to be impervious to harm, regenerating almost instantly. She also has telekinetic abilities. She can alter the temperature of water. She can also kill with a thought and turn the abilities of the 4400 against them. It is possible she has precognitive abilities but this has not been confirmed. She is also able to change her eye clor at will.

Isabelle has been perceived as dangerous to the timeline by people from the future who have tasked Tom Baldwin with killing her. Isabelle herself believes she has been sent to do terrible things and Matthew Ross informed her that her purpose was to destroy the 4400.

Memorable Quotes

(To Shawn) "We need to be together, because I think you're the only one who can stop me."

"There are things I have to do and it's going to be hard, dangerous. And if Shawn's not with me it's going to make everything worse."

Isabel: I think I know what we need to do.

Shawn: Good. I'm glad you realize it too.

Isabel: We have to get married.

Shawn: I just think you and I got a little too intense too fast.

Isabelle: See, I thought that was the best part.
