Interview with the Vampire is a 1994 film based on the Anne Rice novel, Interview with the Vampire. Tom Cruise starred as the mischievous Lestat de Lioncourt with Brad Pitt as the brooding Louis de Pointe du Lac. The film was produced by David Geffen, Redmond Morris and Stephen Woolley. It was nominated for two Oscars for set decoration and original score and won Saturn Awards for Costumes, makeup and Best Horror Film. Kirsten Dunst, who took on the role of Claudia, also won the Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Young Actor.
Synopsis
Louis de Pointe du Lac recounts his tale to reporter, Daniel. Once a plantation owner living in Louisiana in the 1800s, Louis de Pointe du Lac was transformed into a vampire by Lestat de Lioncourt. Louis refuses to kill humans to survive and threatens to leave Lestat. To ensure he keeps his companion, Lestat transforms a young orphaned girl, Claudia into a vampire. The seemingly idyllic life of partying and blood drinking eventually wears thin for a child who can never grow up and Louis who wishes to know more about others of their kind than Lestat is willing or able to tell.
