On the series Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis, the International Oversight Advisory (IOA) consists of representatives of several countries made aware of the existence of Stargate Command and its operations. The advisory includes representatives of the United States, Great Britain, China, France and several other countries. The advisory has little control over the military aspects of Stargate Command which is run by the United States Air Force and funded by the US govt. They do, however, have say in situations that affect the entire planet. The Atlantis expedition reports directly to the IOA. The US representative is NID agent, Richard Woolsey.
