I Was a Teenage Werewolf is a 1957 horror film from director Gene Fowler Jr.. The film starred Michael Landon as a troubled teen who visits a hypnotherapist for help but is taken advantage of by the doctor whose experiments transform him into a werewolf.
Cultural Impact
While it wasn't the first movie to use the "I Was A (fill in the blank)" title formula, it was the first to use "I Was a Teenage (fill in the blank)". It's widely credited with starting a trend of teenage monster movies, as part of the rise of the youth culture in the 1950s.
