Hypnosis is an artificially induced trance-like state which increases an individual's susceptibility to suggestion.
Hypnosis was a common theme in early twentieth century movies which sometimes incorporated hypnosis as a means of past life regression, or as a method by which an individual might be transformed into something more or less than human.
