Houston is a city in the American state of Texas. In the 2000s, it was one of the most populous cities in the country. The Houston Space Center is one of the primary operating centers for American-based space exploration.

It is the birthplace of scifilebreties including author John Shirley (aka D. B. Drumm), actors Jennifer Garner (Alias) and Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation), and director James Frawley.

Annual conventions include Appolocon, AtsuiCon and Houston U-Con.

Sci Fi organizations based in Houston include Houston Science Fiction Association and Friends of Fandom.

Sci Fi works set in Houston include Brewster McCloud, and My Best Friend Is a Vampire.

Reported paranormal happenings include ufo sightings and hauntings (the Houston Public Library, for one). Derrel Sims, the "alien hunter", lives in Houston. Lone Star Spirits is a Houston-based group that investigates reports of ghosts.
