Science Fiction
Holograms, as referred to in science fiction, typically refer to Volumetric Displays, which are graphical display devices that enable the representation of an object in 3 dimensions. Holograms are science fiction staples, most memorably represented in the holodecks of Star Trek: The Next Generation and its sequels.
