Hercules: The Legendary Journeys was an American television series that premiered in 1995 and came to an end in 1999. The series was created by Christian Williams and starred Kevin Sorbo as as Hercules the son of the Greek god Zeus and a mortal woman Alcmene. Hercules traveled the ancient world using his great strength to protect the innocent from the petty tyranny of the gods of Olympus. The series spawned two spin-off series, Xena: Warrior Princess and Young Hercules. Xena, played by Lucy Lawless, was a character on the series aided towards reformation from her evil ways by Hercules. The spin off was a success. Young Hercules, which starred Ryan Gosling was canceled after fifty episodes.

Plot
When Hercules' family is murdered by the queen of the gods and his father's wife, Hera, he sets out on a mission to find and destroy her. His best friend, Iolaus (Michael Hurst), becomes captured by a demon. Hercules rescues him and the two set out on a journey to right wrongs and fight evil, rescuing helpless villagers from giants, demons, and warlords.
