Herbert Lom (Herbert Charles Angelo Kuchacevich ze Schluderpacheru) (b. January 9, 1917) Czechoslovakian-born actor who has worked from Britain since 1939. Often cast as a villainous foreigner or an authority figure, such as a doctor or psychiatrist, he portrayed the eponymous organ-player in Hammer’s disappointing version of The Phantom of the Opera (1962). He is best known for his recurring character of Inspector Dreyfus in The Pink Panther series, of which only The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976) has any fantasy content.
