From SCIFIPEDIA

So, you want to create an article in Scifipedia about a novel? Great! Here are a few tips that may help. Creativity is welcome, of course, but these will help the article look good and help people find it.
The Short Cut
You could just copy and paste an existing article (for example, The Morpheus Factor), and then just replace the items to fit the novel you are describing.
- . Click on the link above: The Morpheus Factor
- . Click on the Edit tab at the top
- . Select everything on the page (you can do CTRL+A)
- . Copy everything (you can do CTRL+C)
- Click on Start an Article on the left side of the screen
- Type the name of the book and hit ENTER
- Paste what you copied (you can do CTRL+V)
- Change what you need to change
- Click Show Preview
- If you like it, click Save Page
Template
The code (originally created by super-contributor (MarshAngel) below will create a nice looking box with some high-level information. If you don't know a piece of information, you can skip it, but do not delete the heading. Here's how it can look:
Here's the code to create it...you can copy and paste it, then double-click a word that starts with ZZ to replace it. Please don't include the top and bottom lines, those are just separators:

Article Content
Then, you may want to give a brief one liner about the book. The title should be in bold (you can highlight it and then use the thick B button at the top of the composer). Please use the AB underline button to create internal links for years, proper nouns, and special terms.
Here's an example:
The Morpheus Factor is a 2001 tie-in novel based on the adventures of the characters in the television series Stargate SG-1.
This is the code behind that one:
The Morpheus Factor is a 2001 tie-in novel based on the adventures of the characters in the television series Stargate SG-1.
After that, you may want to do some kind of summary. This can be quite long, if you want, and be prepared for other people to edit it later. Please also create internal links here (see above). If you are revealing information that could hurt someone's enjoyment of the book, include a spoiler warning. Use two equals signs on either side of the Summary label to create a separate section...something like this:
Summary
spoilersm
While visiting P4V-837, SG-1 comes across friendly locals. They soon begin having hallucinations that become increasingly disturbing. They become unwilling participants in a conflict and their own minds may be used as weapons against them.
You might want to include a trivia section, or anything else...again, use those two equal signs on either side. These will create a table of contents for the article.
Next, it's nice to put in an ISBN (or more than one for more than one version). That's the International Standard Book Number. Older editions (pre-1970) won't have one. Others will have a 9 or 13 digit number, and you can usually find it on the back of the book above the UPC (the "zebra stripes" price code). Put ISBN then a space then the code itself. Then, people can click on the code to find sources to order the book, which helps both the reader of your article and the publisher and/or author of the book.
Here's an example:
ISBNs
Click to find sources to order this book.
Here's the code:
ISBNs
Click to find sources to order this book.
* ISBN ZZISBN
If you can find the official website (usually at the publisher's website, although an author may have their own site), it's a way for people to get more information.
Here's how it looks:
External Links
Here's the code:
External Links
* [ZZURLincludinghttp://www. Official Site]
In the last part of the main article, you can encourage people to give their opinions. The article itself is a reference work, but people can say what they think on the discussion page.
Here's how that looks:
To comment on this book, please click on the Discussion page.
Here's the code:
To comment on this book, please click on the Discussion page.
Finally, you should categorize the book, so other people can find what you wrote more easily. Besides putting it into the Novels category, there are a lot of other things you can do. You could put it into a category for the author, one for the decade it was published, maybe one for a theme (like Vampire Novels), and so on. The code looks like this: and .
One little trick with this. If it starts with The or A (or something similar), you can tell Scifipedia how to alphabetize it. You do that by adding a pipe (a straight up and down line), and then putting in how it should be alphabetized. The code looks lke this: .
