Editing and article creation has essential steps that are important but very easy to follow.
Overview
When one is logged in and creating or editing an article, you'll see the editing pane, as below:
You'll notice that above the pane is a tool bar that will assist you with simple formatting and linking tasks.
Creating an Article
Methods
There are several ways to get started.
Use the "Start a New Article" tool
You can always find that in the left-hand column of this page (Start An Article).
Typing the address into the address bar
You can simply enter the title in the page's URL in the address bar of the browser, following " http://scifipedia.scifi.com/index.php/ " For instance, to start an article about Isaac Asimov, you'd type this into the address bar of your browser:
https://scifipedia.scifi.com/index.php/Isaac Asimov
and then press "Return" (or "Go").
Clicking on a red link
Articles that don't exist yet but someone has indicated they should (someday) be written are pointed to by red links. Think of it like a note to the future from the person who wrote what you're reading. If you want to get the article going, feel free to contribute.
Search First
Be sure what you're writing about doesn't already have an entry that yours would be duplicating. Do a search to see
Be sure to search all instances to be sure your entry won't be redundant. If something already exists, look to it with an eye to improvement, expansion or revision!
Editing an Article
Editing an article is as simple as clicking on the "Edit" tab, above. Of course, you have to be logged in to edit an article (or category or contribute to a discussion).
Protected articles will only display "View Source" in place of "Edit". Only SCIFIPEDIA Administrators have access to protected content, but this should usually consist only of critical use and legal information concerning SCIFIPEDIA and Help:Creator Pages.
